Roof top transportation requires the use of a roof mounted bike rack; these are fitted to a set of roof bars going across the car. If these type of cycle carriers are chosen, considerations need to be taken into account; will you be able to reach? Do you need to utilise the roof for extra storage for example. It is possible to use a medium wide roof box and still have space to transport 2 bikes next to it. This method is ideal if you need to tow something but not if you have a soft top.
